Wildlife Encounters
What a fabulous afternoon we had learning about some wonderful animals that you won't necessarily find in New Hampshire. We had an alligator, a Burmese python, a tarantula, a parrot, an African bullfrog, and a coatimundi. The students learned a lot about each animal: African bullfrog babies are protected by the male; parrot poop is important for helping to plant new trees from the seeds that are in it; tarantulas are a better source of protein than chicken. Colby, from Wildlife Encounters, was very entertaining and knowledgeable. We always love having Wildlife Encounters visit TES.

Cornucopia
Spring is a very exciting time for our first and second-grade students; it's time to get our hands in the dirt again. Spring preparations and planting have begun in the TES gardens. We are very excited to see what our hard working efforts produce.

Mr. Popper's Penguins Celebration
What a great evening celebrating the end of a wonderful book. We had a "museum" of artwork that the students made over the past seven weeks. There were penguin nest dioramas, handprint penguins, and penguin habitats. Games were set up for parents to play, the mug board was out for photo ops, and students had the chance to make a water bottle penguin. We also had strawberry penguins and shaved ice treats. It was such a fun, relaxing evening.

Practical Math Skills for Birdhouse Building
TES 4th graders recently took their math skills beyond the classroom by building their very own birdhouses. Through this hands-on project, students practiced measuring lengths and angles and following geometric plans. They learned to use rulers and tape measures, convert between units, and understand the importance of precision in real-world problem-solving.
But the learning did not stop at applied math. As our students built safe and sturdy homes for local birds, they also discovered how small actions can help protect our environment. Discussions about native bird species and the importance of habitats helped students see their birdhouses as more than just a project — they are a way to give back to nature.
We are so proud of our students’ creativity, teamwork, and growing environmental awareness. Most students will take their birdhouses home to their Temple neighborhoods, but some will soon be installed around our school grounds, providing a welcoming space for feathered friends and a daily reminder of the power of learning by doing!

Mr. Popper's Penguins - Week 6
Games, games, and more games was the wonderful theme for week six of our One School, One Book activities. Students played "Don't Break the Ice" and other ice-themed board games. They also played a version of pin the tail on the donkey, but we named it "Feed the Penguin". We had Dice Build-a-Penguin, Penguin Bingo, Penguin Slide, and Penguin Bean-Bag Toss. It was so much fun watching the kids and adults milling about, playing all the different games. This program continues to be such a blessing to TES. We are sad that it is coming to an end. Thursday, April 17, 2025, is our evening celebration from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm to celebrate Mr. Popper's Penguins and all the activities that were inspired by this book.
