A Warm Welcome To The New TES Principal
Dear TES Families,

I hope this letter finds you enjoying a wonderful, relaxing summer break! As we look ahead to the upcoming school year, I am absolutely thrilled to introduce Temple Elementary School’s new principal, Rebecca Hipps, who officially stepped into her role this week!

Rebecca is an educational leader with over 15 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and instructional leadership, all with a deep focus on whole-child learning. She earned her Doctorate in Leadership and Learning in Organizations from Vanderbilt University, specializing in family engagement and communication. Most recently, Rebecca worked for Amplify on the CKLA (Core

Knowledge Language Arts) curriculum, a research-based literacy curriculum. ConVal piloted CKLA this past year and officially adopted it this spring. As we fully implement CKLA this coming school year, Rebecca’s insider expertise will be an incredible asset to our students and staff.

Rebecca is an exceptionally accomplished educator with a rich, varied background. Her impressive career includes roles such as:

Founder, Director, & Lead Instructor at the Saguaro Center for Teacher Renewal

Elementary Department Chair & Classroom Teacher at Hartsbrook Waldorf School (Hadley, MA)

Educational Consultant at Wondrus Consulting

Curriculum Designer & Coach at LearnZillion

Family Engagement Leader & Trainer at the Flamboyan Foundation (Washington, DC)

Literacy Director at Washington Latin Public Charter School (Washington, DC)

At her core, Rebecca is deeply committed to fostering joyful, rigorous, and relationship-centered learning communities. She was drawn to TES because it offers the unique opportunity to serve as a teaching principal—allowing her to remain grounded in the daily life of children and classrooms.

Rebecca leads with warmth, clarity, organization, and a profound respect for both the developmental needs of children and the expertise of teachers. She is a thoughtful, collaborative leader who is eager to begin building trust, cultivating strong relationships, and creating systems that support the entire TES community.

Please join me in giving Rebecca a warm welcome to the TES community! We are incredibly excited for this next chapter and know that under her dedicated leadership, Temple Elementary will continue to be a nurturing, inspiring place for every student to learn and grow.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Kindergarten and first grade have been working on a very big project. They just finished an Eric Carle author study! This wonderful unit touched so many parts of the curriculum: math, social studies, science, art, and of course literacy. The students worked very hard to create their own book that they dedicated to Mrs. Perreault. Thank you, Brandy Urbon, for all that you are doing for Mrs. P's class!
